Testimonials

Bulk Oil customer: I just wanted to thank you again for your speed and efficiency in enabling me to join the scheme so quickly and take advantage of the 'reduced' rate. I have been very anxious about refilling the oil tank but this scheme has eased some of that concern. Many thanks
Fiona - Electric Tricycle User, Age 51. 'I purchased an electric tricycle as I have Multiple Sclerosis and can no longer ride a bicycle due to poor balance and mobility issues. I have found that being out on my tricycle that my fitness has improved and it has had an impact on weight loss. With the pedal assist I am still able to pedal and use my legs which is important to keep my muscles active, reduce numbness and I am also able to cycle further including hills and this also helps with fatigue as I tire easily. I have enjoyed being able to access local rural areas which has had a positive impact on my mental health and wellbeing, especially during this difficult time due to Covid-19 and being isolated as a clinically vulnerable person. This has meant that I have been able to get out of the house and feel safe whilst exercising. There are a lot of support groups on social media where I have met other like minded cyclists who have offered invaluable support and advice and I have met up with another lady tricycle rider as a riding companion.'
Mrs Surfleet a registered customer of the car scheme thanked HWRA for an excellent service and also to personally thank the driver, Terry for his help and assitance in providing transport to her medical appointment.
Wheels to Work North Lincolnshire Scheme - John from Grimsby ‘I joined the scheme in 2021 after hearing about it from a family member. I was in need of transport to get to and from work as I had my motorbike stolen and was not able to replace it. As a short-term arrangement I was relying on a family member to take and pick me up from work. For me the key benefit of the wheels to work scheme was that it provided me with a scooter that enabled me to get to and from work, it also gave me back independence and freedom. I would definitely recommend the scheme and I have done so to friends who are need of transport to get to work. Don’t’ underestimate the scooters as they are extremely reliable . My experience of the scheme was great, and I was glad that I was successful in receiving a scooter via the scheme’.

North Lincolnshire Alliance Volunteer Hub

The aims of the Alliance Volunteer Hub are to:

  • support and enable the people of North Lincolnshire to take an active role in volunteering within their communities.
  • enable organisations to promote their volunteering opportunities and to develop and grow diverse volunteering opportunities across North Lincolnshire.

This service is provided by the Voluntary Community, Faith & Social Enterprise Alliance North Lincolnshire: a group of voluntary and community sector organisations who came together to form the Alliance so that they could work better together and support other volunteer and community groups across North Lincolnshire.

Do you want to volunteer?

Volunteering is choosing to do something for the benefit others, or for your community or the environment without being paid to do so. Volunteering helps to build safer and stronger communities. Volunteering has many wellbeing benefits and can help you to meet new people, learn new skills, use your valued experience and make a difference in the community where you live.

The Volunteer Hub has a new online database that volunteers can use to find volunteering opportunities within their communities by searching through the available roles in a simple way.

On this exciting new system, volunteers can register for a free account to enable them to apply for roles, be kept up to date with the application process and save their favourite searches. This account can also be used to create a CV by logging volunteer hours and roles that they have undertaken to be able to show to prospective employers.

The new online database can be accessed on computers, smart phones and other gadgets enabling you to find out how to volunteer in the most convenient way to you.

To register on our online database, or to simply browse the opportunities click here.

Do you need volunteers for your group or organisation?

We offer a totally free service to promote voluntary and community organisations’ volunteering opportunities to potential volunteers through this online database, our Facebook page and events we attend to promote volunteering.

To start the registration process please use this link to set up your group or organisation on the system.

Once you have registered your organisation on the system and promoted your volunteer opportunities, potential volunteers will be able to see those online and get in touch to apply for the role. We do not “vet” potential volunteers on your behalf, so you still need to carry out your volunteer recruitment and selection processes and this can all be recorded using the free volunteer management system that you have access to when you register.

Capacity building support can also be offered to groups and organisations in the North Lincolnshire by Community VISION. This support can help charitable organisations and VCFSE groups with organisational development including setting up and becoming embedded within local networks; establishing the right structure and setting up policies, procedures and governance processes; managing your organisation including legal, financial and reporting obligations, support to access funding, staff and volunteer management, planning and preparing for the future. More information.

We have two offices you can visit to get any support you may need getting on to the Volunteering system:

Community Vision, 4-6 Robert Street, Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, DN15 6NG, available Monday to Thursday 9am – 1pm – 01724 845155

Humber & Wolds Rural Action – Wilderspin National School, Queen Street, Barton upon Humber, DN18 5PQ. Monday to Thursday 9am – 1pm or 01652 638 814

The Volunteer Hub can be contacted volunteering@nlalliance.org.uk.

We will be holding open sessions throughout North Lincolnshire, and information on these dates will be published on this website and also on our North Lincolnshire Alliance Volunteer Hub Facebook page.

At these sessions we will have members of staff who will help you to register on the system and look through the volunteer opportunities as well as how to apply and complete the process. We will also be available to support organisations and groups who need volunteers with registering their volunteer opportunities on the database to enable them to be advertised to new volunteers.

This project is possible through UK Government funding.
